I really can't stand putting flea preventative on my pups anymore. I have used Frontline Plus for the first three years and then last year it really wasn't working. I have been using Promeris but the smell...WOW. I am seriously thinking of trying Comfortis.

I need to know from some different pups just how well it works and if there were any side effects.

Thanks everyone, Tinkerbelle

I agree with you. Frontline Plus doesn't work. We're in So. Calif. and the fleas are
terrible!

Thanks LuLu, Im curious though?? What do you use for the itchies.. I am thinking of trying that pill once a month called Comfortis..it is suppose to be safe for the environment and no bad side effects except for occasional vomiting. What do you think?

I love this site for natural products for dogs:

http://www.botanicaldog.com/

Under their Flea & Tick Control section, they have shampoo, conditioner, flea prevent and some spray to help itching.

Along with a lot of other really good stuff!

Frontline quit working for us...it caused a big sore on Lil-e where mom put it...the vet said that sometimes it quits working, especially after long term uses...and told me to try Advantage. She also said she has had a lot of dogs recently that have had that sore reaction with the frontline.
As for itching...we use an oatmeal shampoo. it really seams to help. we just started to Adams flea shampoo...and that has helped with the fleas and the itching...we were amazed.
One thing mommie does, is wipe our paws off with a wet paper towel after we have been outside...that helps too.
We've not had any problems this year...we did at the beginning...tons of fleas....but the advantage worked...and daddy treated the yard...and all the fleas are gone...now if we could just keep the neighbors cats from using my yard as a litter box, all would be good!!

There's a product called DE FLEA by Natural Chemistry. It's a spray and they make a shampoo.
It's not poisons. It's the same chemical they use in human stool softener stuff.
Anyway, it softens the fleas' exoskeletons and dissolves their insides. I used the shampoo and it instantly killed the fleas. I have the spray to spray the base of the tail and behind ears. It really seems to help. I researched the ingredients on the internet it says it's harmless to animals.

We use Revolution which we get from our vet. It is not only for flea prevention but also heartworm. It's applied on the base of the neck once a month from May to September. Francie has never had a flea and it's a relief to know she won't get those gross revolting heartworms either.
