 | | | | Hello everyone,
I spent a terror filled day at the vets office yesterday. Dragon, started the morning out, as usual, trying to move to the front of the food bowl line, lol. He ate well, and was acting normal, about a hour later he fell over on his side and started shaking, and other things, that are just to gross, to tell about.
I had given all the furkids, their annual vaccinations, early in the morning, and was afraid that perhaps it was a reaction to the vaccine, though usually vaccine reactions start with in the first 10-15 minutes, so I called the vet and we rushed over. He was in really bad shape by the time we got there. They immediately started him on IV fluids, then proceded with blood work, etc. His Pancreatic enzyme levels came back elevated 3x greater than normal.
I raised shelties for many years, and they are prevelent to panreatitis, so I'm aware of diet needs, and due to one of my shelites having it very badly due to a inheritary syndrom. So from that I monitor diets still. So dietary they get no human food, maybe a bite of popcorn now and then, they have been raised on Iam's dry, which has little fat content, no canned food, and special doggy treats.
Has anyone heard of this being a problem with Poms? Or what the cause of this might be? Any insights or advice, would be appreciated | | | | |
