Archie has pancreatitis and is currently on Canine i/d dog food. I was wondering if any other welshies suffer from this and how you deal with it. He cannot tolerate anything....absolutely anything other than this dog food.
Also he gets very stressed at grooming time and has twice had to be sedated by the vet afterwards because he has panic attacks. I wonder if any other welshies do this. Its very distressing for all of us, watching him panic.
I hope someone has some answers!

Thanks

Some medications for this disease are antiemetics, analgesics, and antibiotics. It is important to completely fast the dog and give nothing by mouth for at least 24 to 48 hours.

Here are several websites I found:

2. http://www.2ndchance.info/pancreatitis.htm

Usually dogs should eat a diet or type of food prescribed specially by a vet.

And about panic attacks during grooming: My welshie (Benji) does not like grooming time one bit, particuarly when anyone touches his paws. He probably just is sensitive or doesn't like the brush. There are a variety of different brushes at different stores, one Benji likes is a soft rubber one. Sometimes metal bristles can be hard on his skin.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

My dog had the same problem. What we had to do was get mix other dog food with the kind he ate. Slowly keep on adding more of the other food! When you groom him use a soft brush and do only a few strokes every few minutes slowly your dog will change the way of how he hates grooming.
Good luck!
