Everytime I watch "It's Me or the Dog" it seems like there are these huge beautiful areas for dogs to run and play off leash safely. It's like dogs are more accepted in public places than here in the US in general.

There have been numerous stories told here in the forums about even service dog owners in the US actually being harassed by law enforcement to leave places advertising that they are allowed to be there! There's a huge shortage of dog parks where I live. One was proposed, but it was quickly dismissed. I was even told to stay away from a "dog-friendly" park(they have to be on a 6-foot leash or shorter when you take them there) when they were having a rally to keep the park open and one of the reasons they were giving to keep it open was that people walk their dogs there!shrug

Is it where you live in either country or is there a difference in philosophy about dogs here as opposed to the UK? I've never been to the UK,(I want to go to there soooo bad! I literally dream about it) so I'm not in a position to really compare.

What's everyone's observations? Has anyone been both in the US and UK and noticed a difference? I'm just curious.thinking

Hey, I lived in England for three years. I was able to take my dog with me almost everywhere. Dogs are expected to be better behaved than some owners are here and of course they pick up after them. Yes, they love their dogs!
