I just got my pup she is 3 months old, she is great so far she isnt eating very well but everyone says its because she is a pup and new to the home. I am transitioning her from IAMS larg breed puppy food to Nutro Large breed natural Puppy food if that doesnt seem to be good I will try eagle pack. Anything I should know or do please let me know

I have a problem keeping Hammer's weight up so when I notice that he isn't eating too much I go buy a bunch of canned food of the same brand of kibble that I feed ( Blue Wilderness by Blue Buffalo) and that always does the trick.

I have never seen him turn down the food out of a can.

i eat iams lamb and rice now. good for my digestion...that's what mom thinks anyway. she always mixes my food with just a little canned food. the other perk of this is that when you get older and need medicine it's easy to just slip it in with meals. mom is tricky that way!! rio

Thnxfor the info, Dora is now eating great and growing like a weed she is still on the skinny side but I am told she will fatten up around a year and 1/2. I am up to about 6 to 6 1/2 cups a day split 2 times a day.

I just brought my new mastiff home from the vet and I was surprised to find out some info...

Thge vet told me that to take him off the puppy food once he hits 6 months because of the amount of protien in the puppy food, and that by switching to adult large breed at 6 months, it will decrease the likelyhood of him developing cartilage flaps (i think it was cartilage flaps, I dont remember, Ill have to look it up...)

But even though he is only 4 months, we are going to switch it now because my other mastiff is 7 months, and it is easier on us to feed them the same food...

Anyway, I didnt know if you knew, so I thought Id share the info!

Our vet and our Pet Store told us not to feed the larger breeds Puppy Food it's not good for them they grow so fast that they need to be on adult food. Less Protein.

We have given our guys Innova Adult since we got them and they have done fantastic. Our guys only get about 2 1/2 cups a day and they are at the perfect weight and have no issues.

Good Luck with your little ones they grow so fasthug
