I have a new 11 week old puppy...a yorkie of course! I have always heard that they are hard to housebreak. Anyone have any tips for me?! Please?? I had no problems training Roxy, but Mia is a bit tricky.....

Hey there! Congrats on you new baby!!!!party

I usually start my pups out on paper. I do begin taking them out very often and try to get an idea of when they go. Right after they
wake up, after they eat, etc. I continue to say "outside" or "potty outside"...whatever works for you and the pets you already have. I continue to say potty while they are outside and when they go I praise them a lot and kiss them.

It is challenging...just keep in mind that their little bladder is one of the last body parts to complete it's growth. A lot of times it is not that they won't hold it...they can't.

I do use a crate to train also. Maggie was raised from a puppy and we had a heck of a first year. But then, when it kicked in...she never never had an accident. She passed away this passed January at 10 1/2 years old. My other three yorkies were obtained from breeders and they were a lot older. It only took a couple of months to get them to go outside.

My Maltese, Oliver was a whole different story. He is only 8 months and we got him at 3 months. He went on paper, only had a few accidents in the house, has never gone in his crate (even when we have been gone for 8 hours). He is wonderful!!! No problems at all!!!snoopy We are so fortunate!way to go

Hope this helps! I am so happy for you and your new addition.
