I have allergies. I'm so itchy and I scratched my belly-buton off!! My mom knows I have allergies and is giving me my allergy meds (benadryl) but my grandma is adament that I have fleas.

I've been itchy for 2 weeks now, so wouldn't my mom and brother Rufus have fleas too since I sleep with them?

Anyway, my mom is looking into K9-Advantix and Frontline. Does anyone recommend one over the other?

Hi Bruno,

Sorry this is late. My mommy uses frontline and it works good. Oh about allergies! I sometimes get allergies too but seasonal. Someone told my mommy at the doggie park that Flaxseed oil helps with the skin and allergies too. You give 1 cap. dialy with your food. Every day for longterm use. Maybe that might help or change the food diet. My mommy said that Avoderm lamb and rice is really good stuff. You can get it at the pet shop. They also make Avoderm trout/potato. I had the same problem, but mom fussed and fussed until she got Grammy to switch my food. I had a corn allergy! Now I'm on a grain free and flea free to boot. If it doesn't get better, I'd talk to your mom about trying the same, I hear it runs in our breed.

Hi,

I'm new here, but boy, do I know allergies!

First, our new vet, a shar pei specialist says we should use Frontline. It works well for us me and(my pei sis Raisin).

Second, he put me on prednisone every other day and I'm feeling great! My hair has mostly grown back in and those disgusting scaly places are pretty much cleared up, tho he says my hair may not grow back in there. At least I'm not half naked and embarrassed to be seen in public!

my mom washes me and my sister with head and shoulders shampoo it helps with the dry skin . she also puts omega 3 oil in our food and switched our food to canidae. boy did that really make a difference are skin is great now no more itchies

my mom uses frontline... works great but also i'm an inside dog with no carpet. Also, some shar-peis have skin allergies so it's best to keep them on the medicated/unscented shampoos regularly and don't bath too much. Hope you get well soon!

both meds are effective. just be careful if you have a kitty as a sibling. Advantix(for pups like me) is toxic for the first 24 hrs. My sister doesn't like me so she has nothing to worry about. My momma also changed my diet, my ears were itchy. I hope you feel better soon.

My mom uses Frontline on me and it works for the fleas. Mom has bought me Avoderm lamb and rice as well as Blue lamb and rice, those foods help with my coat. Sorry to hear you are itching so much hopefully it will clear up soon.
