I just got an 8 week old wire hair and he doesn't have much wire yet, does anyone know when he will get all his hair?

My mommy used to have a wire haired dachsund. This was many years ago, but she says her dog, Winnie, always had the wirehaired coat from the time it was a little tiny puppy. It got more wirey as she grew older but it almost always looked the same.
