Wanna play?

It seems like the only dogs people will let near my Dandi are bullies. They're much larger than her (even the bulldog she's friends with can knock her over and smother her) but no one else wants to let their dogs near her. The minute they hear someone say 'oh she looks like a pit bull' or the minute they see her face or brindle color they pull their dogs away. I've had little dogs try to attack her but everyone still trusts them more.

Dandi isn't even a bully. She's not pit or staffie according to the city pound. They say she's a terrier mix. To me she looks like a pointer/boxer/terrier. Pointer because she has their instinct, boxer for the face and brindle, terrier for the size. She's just a general mutt who isn't getting enough soecial interaction because no one trusts her so she's stuck with big mean bulldogs that chew her face and pitties that steal her cookies.

Any advice on how to convince people she isn't a pittie or staffie, or at least convince them she won't eat their dogs? Do your dogs ever have this problem?

i'm going through something a bit similar with the lack of play stuff! Ava is a very rambunctious Staffie, and most people in my area think she is mean because she gets so excited with new dogs around, when in truth, she is a sweet playful puppy. I have a hard time trying to explain to many people that bully breeds have a bad rap, and it depends wholly on the person raising the dog. My suggestion is "show" people how sweet she is, so that way they know she isn't a meanie like they probably think!

because of all this, I plan on signing her up for doggy day care, so she can get some good supervised play time, and help get her better with meeting new pups.

I have never had a problem other than my boyfriends aunt. She is a real witch anyways, but working at a vets office you would not think she would be so breed racist. She hates pits and gets all fearful when she comes near ours. I mean, its to the point where she acts ridiculous, like she gets out of the car slowly, and the dogs are LAYING down looking elsewhere they could care less, then she puts out her hand and slowly makes her way to the house facing them at all times. I just want to die. big laugh She has two little miniature dogs (unsure of their breed) But I have gotten nipped by them more times than my dog has EVER even chewed on my while playing!!!

But other than that, I am in the country down south so most people down here own pits. Plus we have a decent sized property in the woods so no one really messes too much with us. If anything they love our dogs regardless of their breed. I would hate to have to deal with that crap though, its the way they are raised. You can take a border collie and make it vicious.
