Alright...I'm ignoring the probably obvious when I ask, how did we all come to the glorious name of Chewie? thinking

I'll go first- My Chewie was named Chewbacca because of her fuzziness and attempts at talking. And she does her share of chewing too. snoopy

I got named Chewie for the same reason - I looked just like Chewbacca when I was lil guy. However, I took it as a directive and now make semi annual trips to the emergency place for "foreign body ingestion".

How funny that I thought I was anywhere near original. Chewie's formal name is also "Chewbecca," an homage to Star Wars for me....But, as a bouncing Boston Terrier pup, she earned her name Chewie. I've a pile of defunct toys and other household items to prove it!!

Same here. My husband is a huuuuuuge Star Wars fan, and our little guy is a brown fuzzball, although I did rationalize it by telling people that he is a Mini Aussie and in Australia chewie means bubble gum.
My Chewie lives up top his name too.

Yeah-I always think I'm this amazing source of originality. Oh well...we'll just stick with, "great minds think alike."

When we first brought Chewie and Nermal home we didn't have a fenced in yard. Nermal followed me around aimlessly, licking anything her short little self could reach. Chewie, on the otherhand, was busy retrieving everyone's left shoe-from the entire neighborhood. We're out in the country too, so it kept her busy. After a while she got bored with the shoes and starting bringing me slightly gnawed upon turtles, from our nearby creek. Thus beginning a turtly relocation program and the building of our fence. big grin

i was named by my 4 yo human friend because i chew things a lot. and my long name is Chewbacca because I look like a Wookie.

i am now8 months old and still love to chew...i also do a good Yoda imitation when Andie gets too close to my food.

I already had my name when my mommy bought me. My other people had named me that because I nibbled on everything when I was a puppy. Mommy wanted to name me Tiki but she said that I was just a Chewie- plain and simple. My full name is Chewston Louis, but I only hear that when I am in trouble!

My name is Chewie because when I was a week old I would get bored at 2 AM when my owner was sleeping. I chewed a hole 12Wx8Hx3D cm into the wall! i don't chew on aything I'm not allowed to anymore, I'm much betetr trained, but my name will always be Chewie!

We named our little guy Chewie because (he was brown when we got him.. and has changed color COMPLETELY yearly lol)
he was just a little furball that reminded me of Chewbakka.

Gizmo was our first runner up!
