Wobblers Syndrome

My 10 yr old Dobe, Jett, has been diagnosed with wobblers. She is not eating right now-- been on steroids for 3 days & going for a 2nd laser therapy treatment tomorrow. Also getting something for pain tomorrow, so maybe she'll start eating. With her age, surgery is just not an option-- spoke at length about this with our vet. Does anyone have experience with wobblers in an older dog? How long will the steroids make her comfortable for the long term (like the next 2-3 years)? Do I need to start preparing myself & my kids for the loss of our beloved Jett? (Jett does have her own page on dogster-- check it out if you like). Thanks for any info.
