Crating: How do I create a positive association?

Tesla is about 8 weeks old. She sleeps fine in her crate at night when I am right beside her in my bed, but if I leave the room she starts whining. I generally ignore her when she whines, but it is not getting any better. I left the house for two hours this morning after she had eaten, been outside twice, and played with me for an hour. She was whining when I left, and when I got back, I listened outside the bedroom window and she was still at it! I feel terrible.

I don't make a big fuss when I leave or get back, so I don't think I am contributing to the problem in that way. I want to create a positive association with the crate, but Tesla is not interested in treats or toys. She only like being with people. Does anyone know what I can do to help her feel comfortable?
