I was diagnosed with tracheal collapse today. I was curious to know if anyone else has experianced this disease. If so what did your vet recommend and what was the out come?

My vet also diagnosed me with a collapsed trachea. Mine is pretty mild right now, but I make honking noises when I'm excited. My vet told my mommy & daddy to try to keep me calm and to use a harness when walking me because walking with just a collar can aggravate my condition. My mommy and daddy also need to keep me away from smoke and dust. If my condition gets worse, my vet will prescribe some doggie cough syrup. If it gets really bad my vet will have to perform surgery to open up my trachea again. This is a very common condition that can get progressively worse over time, but hopefully the preventative things my mommy and daddy are doing will help keep me from being a serve case. Your not alone, good luck and stay healthy!

Hi, little Pom friends. I cough a little when I pull really hard on the leash and one thing that was suggested for me that also can help with tracheal collapse is to use a harness instead of a collar when walking on a leash since that puts much less pressure on the trachea. I hope you are feeling better. wave
