I would love to get this post going as well.... I have a 3 month old Yorkiechon. He is a little ham.... They are so loving dogs... He sure is teething and wants to bite everything right now. He hasnt been the healthiest little thing. The second day we had him he had rectile prolapse and had to have surgery. He ended up coming home four days later with kennel cough however he is all better and back to himself. I was wondering if any of you have any grooming tips? do you have to cut their hair often? I also am noticing that his nails are growing EXTREMLY fast. Any advice on this would be greatly appreaciated as well. This is my first puppy so I am new at all of this.

Thank you smile

I feel like Lulu's hair and nails grow VERY fast too! I wondered if I was imagining things.

When we first got her, she was getting little tangles all over (mostly around the top of her legs). Then I bought some better tools, one is a slicker and the other is a little double-sided comb. I brush her right before going to bed and she hasn't had any problems with tangles since. I have a small mat-cutter too but I haven't had to use it except for the first time.

As for nails... cutting them kind of scares me so I have the groomers do it. We've only had Lulu 2 months and she's been groomed (haircut included) twice. I feel like its a little to often but her hair and nails grew SO fast after the first haircut. Her skin is also a little dry. confused

Once a week I look in Lulu's ears to make sure they're clean too (I have some ear cleaner).

Thanks for the tips... I will keep an eye on the ears.

I feel the same way about the nails. I dont want to do it and end up making him bleed. So I probably will take him in soon for some grooming.. smile

He seems to be growing everyday and changing. I have been researching alot and notice that their coats seem to change color. Have you noticed any of that?

cry Yeah. We got Lulu at about 5 months old so her baby fur color was already growing out and she was in a bad need of a haircut and bath. Lulu lightened a little but there's nothing too drastic. Last time she got a haircut we were shocked at the color on top of her head.
Here's how she looked when we got her:

Sorry my internet has been out for a week. Macy changed color too. She was brown when we got her, now she is blond, actually a cream color, I was shocked when I picked her up from the groomers telling them that was not the same dog I brought in. Check the fur color right by the skin, thats the color they will be. First color is the puppy fur, or so they tell me. Yes the nails and fur grow fast, but I was told by different people that these dogs dont have fur but it is actually hair, like people hair. You need to brush them daily, if not it is tangle city.
