Pit Bull in search of Rescue!

A friend of mine has recently acquired a stray pit from Detroit. Shes about two years old (according to the vet) Shes been over bred, most likely for fighting dogs. She herself has no marking of a fighting dog and is a very very sweet girl. Natural ears, natural tail. Shes two, chocolate brown with the cutest ears ever. Whoever had her didnt take care of her at all. She has worms, we dont know about heart worm but she has hook and ring. Poor girl. She didnt even know what dog food was. She was probably eating garbage the vet thinks. She has no inkling of what housebreaking is. She despises snow. Shes very petite. Shes not fond of cats. She couldnt go to a home with cats, no way. but people, kids and other dogs? Shes great.
The problem in all this? Well my friend has two cats, so she can't keep her. We dont know the full state of her health until tomorrow. Shed be great for a single woman. The mean man voice makes her cower and hide. The vet has discussed putting her down if shes heart worm positive but shes so sweet, I really believe she deserves a second chance.
I am searching and searching for a rescue that may have room for her. If anyone has any ideas, please please let me know.
