Help!,
Roxy is eating grass to make herself throw up. Is it the food or something else?
I started feeding her natural balance Organic but at 130+ pounds thats gets expensive!

I now have her on PMI Exclusive and I think I need to find another food.
I do feed her 2 times a day instead of one.
With all the dog food scare I am worried about what to feed her.
Has anyone had this problem?

Any suggestions would be welcome!!!

mom put me on iams lamb and rice...but that was mostly because of my loose stools and gas. the rescue place was feeding me several different sorts of foods. i started having vomiting late at night after taking my pain meds so mom gives me a pepcid with my evening meal. we have two meals/day as well. mom likes to split it up to try and stave off bloat...if that is possible. she also has me rest before/after meals. my pm meal is smaller than the morning one though. not sure i helped, but that is my routine anyway.

It's kinda funny my mommy was getting online to look at what kind of food to give me she gives me purina pro plan extra large breed but I too have really bad gas and loose stool she called the vet. There is no difference between exra large and large products and if the gas is bad like mine use gas x i tried that for the first time today and for the first time I had no gas.

Eating grass and throwing up is a normal thing and usually has nothing to do about the food. Usually their tummys are upset and they eat grass to settle them (or they are bored) they can't digest grass that well so it has to go somewhere. Titus usually throws up grass at least once a month. I think Titus and Maggy Mae were Cows in their previous life. hahahahah!!!

As long as its good Holistic Kibble you can't go wrong in my book. I feed Timberwolf and Eaglepack I have seem to get really good results from them. I usually buy my kibble online at k9cuisine.com they have free shipping on orders $50 or more which makes them a lot cheaper than other online stores. A lot of the stores in my area do not carry Holistic Kibble.

When we got Calypso she had the most upset stomach I had ever encountered! We took her to the vet as she was losing weight rapidly and they put her on antibiotics which really didn't do much good at all. We took her off of Science Diet and started her on Nature's Recipe, designed especially for sensitive stomachs and gave her In Clover Digestive Enzymes for Dogs (you can get this at PetCo, along with the food) which worked like a charm! Her BM's are completely solid and she stopped eating grass. Not only that but it cut down on her gas too!
Also, I'm sure you already know that the food should be elevated so that the stomach doesn't bloat.
Hope this helps!!!

My first Mastiff was raised on Pedigree. My second as well for the first 3 years then switched to Purina Dog Chow. My third was started on Pedigree from breeder, switched to a Raw Diet, then switched to Royal Canin. When I got this dog he weighed 269# and very overweight. I switched him to Purina Dog Chow as well. Now he is almost his ideal weight at 238#. My breeder suggests a protein level not higher than 22% and a fat content not higher than 11%, and this is what I have always stuck to.
I don't have any problems with gas....well the OCASIONAL fart...but nothing that will blow you out of the room. Never had tummy problems. I do feed two even meals per day. NEVER one. Never exercise in the 2 hours before or after meal time, and ALL my dogs were cows in their past life. They all eat grass. They love it. I dont use chemicals on my grass for that reason. The only time they vomit from it is if they eat my 3' high ornamental grass. That's not a pretty picture weather digested or not.
I don't know weather it is luck or not. My breeder has gorgeous dogs and feeds nothing special. It has worked for us for many years.

We have always fed our guys Innova adult it's about $46.00 for a 33lb bag but we have never had a problem with it and our guys do fantastic on it.

I would talk to your Vet and ask what they recommend or talk to your local pet store that sells something other then what you can get in the grocery store. The less By products the better the food.

Good Luck!
