Just to kind of get things started, right now Heffner is involved in agility and skijoring. We sort of started working towards getting his certification as a water dog this past summer, but not too much. We'll focus on that more this summer.

I enrolled him in foundation agility through the Columbia Agility Team here in the Portland area when he was about a year and a half. We didn't do jumping or full sized obstacles, but since we were both just starting out, I knew it was going to take several months before I got the handling down and he got used to the tunnel and things like that. I figured that by the time he was two years old, we'd be ready to get serious! And that's pretty much how it happened. We still haven't jumped full height yet, but I'm not in any hurry for that. We have had the pleasure of having two great instructors so far. Our current instructor is very specific about handling skills, so I'm really getting worked over!

We also just started skijoring this winter as well! It's been a lot of fun so far! We've "competed" in one sled dog race this season (recreational skijoring division) and are shooting for one more this year.

In the future we're looking towards adding possibly rally obedience and definitely tracking to our roster!

Hi

I'm Erika. We have a great dane bitch that just turned 2.

We are active in tracking, rally-obidience, showing and a little freestyle. Once we get her HD & ED results, I'm hoping to expand to agility and possibly pulling (sled, not WP).

We live in Sweden (hence the spelling mistakes)

Oh, yeah, we also have guinea pigs... hamster dance

Very cool Erika!

Since I last posted we've added Bess to our family! Right now I'm in the conformation ring with her. I'll most likely start her in foundation agility at about a year and a half like Heffner. This time around I'll have a much better idea of to get her started, but she's so different than Heffner that we'll need to spend some time on a lot of basics. I'm looking forward to that!

No skijoring here (central Texas). We primarily do AKC Obedience and some occasional Rally. We've put CDs and CGCs on four Danes, and a CDX on one. All of our Danes but one (Heidi) have been rescues, and we're very involved in rescue (Danes and hounds). We lost our oldest Dane last December, one week shy of her 11th birthday, and currently have two. We also have two Coonhounds, both rescues. My wife is the founder of Austin's canine drill team, in which both of our current Danes have participated.

I'm sorry to see that this forum is inactive. I hope that in the future there will be enough interest to resurrect it.
