Hi Archie, thank you for inviting me to your group, I also brought along my kid sister, Cupid, she's a "ChiWeenie"!! Yes, we can do agility and we can do it very well too! My "brother" has Aussie's and my Mom goes to watch them when they do agility. She said there are classes for us mighty minis too. Chi's, Paps, Min Pins... a lot of small breeds dogs are represented. She said our biggest problem is the teeter-totter cuz some of us don't weigh enough to get it to come down!! Hope you try this sport cuz it's a lot of fun!! Taco

Chihuahuas are amazing little creatures. Depending on each individual animal and their ability and personality, you can train then to do just about anything. Agility is actually something that many dogs love naturally. So, if you have a Chihuahua that enjoys that type of activity, by all means have at it.

Just to give you an example of just how amazing Chihuahuas are; I have a 3 lbs. 11 oz. Chihuahua female, Holly-Bug, that is a registered Medical Alert Service Dog, for me. I originally got her as just a cute pet. But when she was only 6 months old, she started showing the ability to detect high (or low) blood sugar levels in me. She would wake me up at night if I needed to check my sugar levels. It took me while to put 2 and 2 together and realize what she was doing for me.

Shortly there after she had somehow learned my medication schedule and reminded me like clock work each day. It was not even something I thought her. So I began training her to become a full fledged Medical Alert Service Dog. She responded so well that I was able to get her certified and registered. Quite a remarkable feat for such a tiny dog. The examiner laughed when I called them to schedule her test.
laugh out loud
Chihuahua's are just not what one thinks of when one hears the words "Service Dog". But she passed her test with flying colors. happy dance We did a mall test, and Holly-Bug performed as if she knew she was being watched and tested. Now isn't that amazing... and somewhat funny too? LOLblue dog
