If so where do you buy your supplies and approx how much do you spend? I am considering switching to raw but have found prices at the grocery stores to be prohibitive.

I do! We actually get the bulk of our meat at Whole Foods-- they have turkey backs and necks for 79 cents/ pound. They also have chicken backs and necks if your dog is smaller for 99 cents/ pound. When my guy was a puppy, I used to get lots of chicken necks from a Mexican butcher in SSF (99 cents/ pound, I think). The Key market is RWC also has some okay prices. Start asking around your area at your local stores and butchers and see what you can get. I was surprised to see that Whole Foods was the best bet for me, so check everything!

For muscle meat, I mostly just watch the sales at Safeway, or sometimes I'll pick up a big roast at Costco. I think I spend about $100/ month, but my dog is 143 pounds and eats more than 3 pounds a day.

We get most of our meat from Creston Vally Meats www.cresonvalleymeats.com . They are located in Southern California and do trips every 2 weeks to this area. They have good prices on meat scraps and organs, and their stuff is really high quality. We get most of our birds from Safeway/Lucky/Costco depending on where there are sales. Also, 99 Rand in El Cerrito has lots of cool stuff like chicken feet etc for not too much. Oh yeah, and Berkeley Bowl sells meat scraps, too. We've been averaging a little over a dollar a lb for food.
