I have a Malinois who is about 15 yrs. He is one of the smartest dogs I have ever seen. He is frequenlty smarter than me though. He is also very aggresive with new people. When a stranger comes over i have to keep him on a leash or he will run up and bite them. I love him more than anything I just wish he weren't sp protective.

Could your age be wrong here..15yrs? Faust bio says 1yr.

Malinois are extremely protective of their owner and property. The first 2 yrs are critical to their mental stability, they require a lot of socialization from early puppy up to the mind balancing age, which will occur anywhere between 16-24 months. Do not give harsh correction, firm, but never harsh! not saying that you do..this is just advise. since you must not be receiving any from his breeder.
Biting the "butt" is not unusual LOL, but must be corrected. Never fail to correct un-wanted behavior in you Mali, otherwise it will be permanently set it as acceptable. A well balanced Mali will be the best dog you ever had...untrained and unbalanced the most challenging and worse you ever had. Patience, training, socialization, and exercise, exercise, exercise....physical and mental.
Have you considered a good obedience class, not one through like pets mart, but an AKC breed club close to you. You need an instructor
familiar with "this" breed, because their mind is totally different than any other breed.dancing
