Any coonhound owners have 2 dogs? What breed would be most compatable with a coonhound?

I adopted a retired racer greyhound about 2 years ago. Last winter I adopted a rescued bluetick coonhound. They are both males. Bogie, my blue tick, is not at all agressive and gets along with my greyhound (no warfare) although I would not call them best friends--more like siblings. It does make life interesting. Bogie likes to hoard rawhides in his crate and Strider knows this (he eats his right away). So, when Bogie is being petted, Strider goes and steals a rawhide. When Strider gets distracted, Bogie steals it back. Strider races when we go to the dogpard, Bogie patrols the fence so he can bay at any passers by.

www.theirsafeplace.org is a rescue site which frequently has hounds up for adoption. Check out the dogs there. That is the agency Bogie came from.
Strider came from www.midwestgreyhound.org/ and still has pictures on the site under the name Hagler.dog

I actually had 2 blueticks at one time which was great!! Hunting dogs tend to be more pack dogs and having more than one of any breed will probably make the dogs happier and thus your life a little more calm! Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I wish I had the room (and patience) to have two blueticks, as I agree that they would probably get along great. Instead I ended up with an older Cairn Terrier who needed rescuing. Even though Jenny and Skye don't actively play together, they are company for each other, and I can see that Jenny is much less anxious when I come home from work.

I have 2 furbrothers which I love and get on really well with. Dakota - husky/lab, and Ruger Lab/Pitt. I'm a very happy boy and get on well with all dogs, I even like all the dogs at the vet when I visit. I also love my cousin whos a minature husky cross.
