 | | | | It would be great to pioneer a dog carriage program... but I also think it might be best to first only target areas where dogs are already allowed. In other words, we use current accessibility as a foundation for building a mobility chain. This way we get huge added value when we have a success, the best practice examples are immediately available and proximate, sympathetic politicians can say "Hey your neighbor is doing it!", etc. Then later we can do pioneering activities...
This means:
* MetroNorth PLUS MTA (a subway line from Brooklyn to Grand Central which also serves Central Park)
* TTC in Toronto and more suburban services which connect to it (right now about three allow it, two don't)
* TransLink Ferries PLUS TransLink bus, trams, etc. in Vancouver (the core system does not allow dogs, just the ferries...)
* MUNI in SF PLUS BART and/or AC Transit (East Bay) and/or Golden Gate Transit (Marin County). I am also talking to dog-friendly employers in Marin (Autodesk) and Berkeley (Clif Bar)
* MBTA in Boston allows dogs and they operate all the transport in the immediate area of Boston, so I will look and find some service which goes further out (e.g. to Cape Cod) or maybe this can be part of dogs on Amtrak sleepers which would go from Boston/NYC to Florida...
BUT please let me know if you want to start something new! | | | | |
