wondering if any chin owners have had problems with diarrhea? Samurai has been having some probelms and can't eat ANYTHING but his dog food when 6 months ago he could eat or chew anything. Now I cna;t give him a bully stick without him getting sick! We have been to the vet and been poked and proded and spent over 500.00 on tests with no answers! Almost like he has IBS as if I give him and antibiotic the diarrhea goes away right away. Any info would be helpful!

We've never had a problem with Saki. I have read that Chins can have IBS, though!

Hmm.. Tina never had this problem, but digestive trouble, intestine problem - is the basic Japanese Chin and other little dogs disease.
And sometimes it appear like diarrhoea or worse appetite. confused

I wouldn't say Griffin has diarhea a lot, but he does have very soft stools all the time. I feed him and Merlin the same food; Merlin's stool is like rocks and Griffins is so soft you can't hardly pick it up. He's allergic to corn and wheat....boy did I find that out the hard way. My friends suggested I feed him some and drop him the middle of Iraq....biological warfare. The vet doesn't think there's anything wrong with him, she said some dogs just digest food diffirently than others. I have to admit I worry about it sometimes; but he's not loosing weight and is healthy, so what can you do? Good luck!

Cody has always had a sensitive stomach. We went through a similar experience where we had him checked out by the vet, ran a bunch of tests, and they can't find anything really wrong. Cody sometimes has soft poo, but his main problem is he randomly throws up. Maybe every couple of weeks he'll act like he's feeling bad, get really clingy, and you can hear his tummy just a-rumblin. Then a few hours later, he throws up (always a very small amount, just foamy) And he freaks out because he's salivating everywhere. But once that passes, he's fine. I have tried to discern a pattern of any kind, and I have yet to come up with any reason why he does this other than he just has a funky stomach.
My other Chin, Bella, has thrown up maybe twice in the past year and never has poo problems.

Sometimes my dogs get that around the hottest parts of summer. I think the heat may upset their stomachs. I try to make their trips outside as quick as possible. I've also found that giving them bones they can eat or weird foods that have a lot of flavor or fiber can do that as well. I keep their extra treats limited to apples, grapes, carrots or crackers.

Samurai still has this problem....I have found that if I give him and antibiotic then it stops almost right away...I hate to have him on these but it works. He has the throwing up issue as well....I can tell when his tummy is upset and I give him 1/2 a pepcid (per my vet) and once that takes effect he is fine! I have had every test run in the book to make sure not something worse and he has nothign wrong with him....I mean 2,500.00 in tests to find out he has bad poops! Well I knew that! Funny cuz I have Crohn's disease (intestinal disorder) so I guess we were meant to be together!
