How do you think your dogs view their collars?
Do they dred the collar or are they excited?
Do you think you could change his/her mind about the collar if he/she is one that does not like the collar?
Do you think that eventually you can train without the collar?
Do you believe that the dog only does what you ask when he/she has the collar on?
Are there certain things that your dogs do when the collar is on that they don't do when it's off or vise versa?
Do you disagree with certain methods or reasons for people to use e-collars?

- How do you think your dogs view their collars? I think he regards it with respect. I also think it gives him more respect for me in general.

-Do they dred the collar or are they excited? He has brought the collar to me in anticipation of going on a walk- he loves it because it means he gets to go run on the beach without the constraint of the leash.

-Do you think you could change his/her mind about the collar if he/she is one that does not like the collar? If he didn't like his collar, I think I'd be able to change his mind by using it in conjunction with positive reinforcement and only using it when it means he's going to go do something fun.

-Do you think that eventually you can train without the collar? I just recently tried phasing out the collar. I've tried to do it before without success, but I think I was just not moving slow enough, because this time he is doing extremely well. He does know when the collar isn't on him, so that is hard to overcome sometimes.

-Do you believe that the dog only does what you ask when he/she has the collar on? He obeys commands rather well regardless of the collar, but he does much better around distractions when the collar is on.

-Are there certain things that your dogs do when the collar is on that they don't do when it's off or vise versa? He doesn't always come on command without the collar, but other than that he does everything else whether the collar is on or not. Even the "sit" command from far away and with distractions. I think he does this because sitting on command doesn't take him away from what he was going after, but coming on command does.

-Do you disagree with certain methods or reasons for people to use e-collars? I think e-collars are widely missused. They can be confusing for dogs if they aren't used properly and can also make dogs fearful and/or aggressive in the wrong hands. People must understand that their dog needs to already know the command before the collar ever goes on them. They also don't work well for dogs whose humans are afraid of using the e-collar. This sets up the dog for failure because their human does not correct every time an error is made- confusing the dog because sometimes it is a bad thing and other times it is okay.
