Hi Shortdog! Here's a link (also under the group links) for the prerequisites to be a Delta Society Pet Partner team. Volunteers under 16 are required to be with a parent or guardian, but over 16 can work on their own.

Ther e are also step-by-step directions on how to start the training course, and lists of organizations in your area. If the organizations in your area discriminate by age, you can get your training online directly from Delta Society and a local trainer. smile

You could also be certified through Therapy Dogs International, which is who I tested with. It's basically the AKC canine good citizen test with a few extra requirements. Here's a link:
