my sister bought a dog recently, she always wanted a yorkie and she got this puppy, she was told she was a yorkie but as she grew a little bit and now that she's 3 months we saw some features that makes us ask ourselves if she is a yorkie for real or a silky.

the silky breed is not very common where we live, we where told by the breeder that the puppy was going to be bigger than an average yorkie, we saw the parents of the little puppy and agreed cause we fell in love with her and we didnt wanted her to have any kind of trouble when the time came to have her own puppies.

we ask if anyone knows if she is a yorkie or a silky not because we would think less of her or care less about her or give her back or whatever...we really really adore her but we would love to know her real breed so we can take perfect care of her and give her all sheŽll need.

thanks to anyone willing to answer...if you want to see her photos, her name is lola and she is on my page registered as a yorkie so far.

she definately looks like a yorkie genereally with silky's they have longer snouts and broader back, i would just look up general information on them, they also have more silver throughout them, rather than the steel blue yorkies should have on their backs

I agree, she does look more like a yorkie. I understand wanting to know your dog's exact breed. Mia is half yorkie and half jack russell, she was a rescue dog so that's all that I know about her family or breed. I love her to death but it would be easier to identify her health needs if she was pure breed.

I think she looks yorkie rather than silky or silky mix. My Milo is half and half. If you check out his pics you can see the silky hair and how his face is a bit different than most Yorkies.

She's beautiful anyway! What a pretty girl! big grin

I had the same questions about KC. I finally received her pedigree paper's and it does show that she is a Yorkie, even tho she has the color and size of a Silky. Yorkie's were bigger many many years ago, they were breed to be smaller, so I just think it is just a natural thing for some to be larger than the norm of today's breed. Maybe your sweetie has some ancestor's that are on the larger size. Can you get her pedigree chart, that may help you in answering your questions?

She's a Yorkie I show and Breed, Yorkies should be 5-7 pds, but they do come smaller and bigger, it just depends on their past pedigree

Hi! I'm Annie. You look like a yorkie! I'm not sure but you certainly don't look like a silky. What about your doggie parents? Maybe one was part silky?shrug
