My name is Melissa and I am a blind 27 year old from Melbourne,Auatralia. My left eye has light perception and my right eye has a tiny bit of hand motion at 20cm.
On August 28th,2006 I received my first Seeing Eye Dog named Safari and he is a 4 year old pure Golden Retriever. Safari was born on 5th September and has 5 other dogs in his litter. My life has changed so much since receiving Safari as it was so horrible using the white cane. I am so thankful for Seeing Eye Dogs Australia for giving me Safari as I have gained so much confidence and independence since receiving him.
I live with my parents and an older brother and we have 7 cats. I love music and love playing the keyboard. I also love reading braille.
