We hear about all of the pitiful stories and feel sorry for the dogs and owners. But how about some good things that have come out of your dog being blind? Although I would give anything for Rudy to be able to see, he sees the world now with his heart. I know it sounds corny, but true! He is so much more loving, his brothers (who are half his size) look after him and let me know when something's awry and we are just a closer knit little group somehow. We laugh at things he does and don't pity him. If we're all in a room and he is sitting facing the wall, we make a joke and tell him "we're over here, Bear" (which is one of our nicknames for him). He loves his mama and daddy and when we come in at the end of the day, he jumps up and wraps his paws around our waist. He is a total blessing, blind or seeing. No pity here...just love.

You are so right!! Jake is always joyful! He's actually given us new "sight" and inspires everyone he comes in contact with, because there's no mistaking his pure joy for life. All his other senses are so heightened people are often amazed to learn Jake is blind. Jake confirms every day that all obstacles can be overcome with love! Jake is a blessing come our way, that we could never have imagined and are every day so forever greatful for!
