 | | | | On Sunday, August 26th, Hazel was not acting her normal self. She just lay around all day, sometimes even whimpering. Something was DEFINITELY wrong!
Monday, mom took her to the pet hospital on her way to work and asked them to please check her over good, especially her hips. We thought it might have been something she ate, but her appetite was fine and she didn't throw anything up, so check those hips. Sure 'nuff, after taking a few x-rays, our precious 2 year old poochie has hip displaysia already, with a fair amount of arthritis in her right hip. The doc gave us an anti-inflamatory to give her to get her past this pain, and recommended a daily dose of a glucosamine supplement from now on to help. After just one dose of each, she was acting MUCH more like herself on Tuesday! The doc thought maybe she had just been playing a bit too rough over the weekend and injured/aggravated the hip, and that she should be pretty much fine for many years. WE SURE HOPE AND PRAY SHE WILL! She's SOOOOOO precious to our whole family!! Big goofball.... she weighed in at 80 lbs, and the doc said it would be a good idea to get her down to 72-75 lbs. So we cut her food by 1/4 and will take her back in later this month to see if that's helping.
I've heard that a daily aspirin can be a great help to a dog with hip displaysia, if you have any experience with this, PLEASE send us a message and share your experience!!! THANKS! | | | | |
