When I start going real good, I get a bath. It's not my favorite thing, but it does help get a lot out all at once. I do feel better afterwards because it's not very comfortable to have all those clumps tangled in with the rest of my coat.

Some dogs who live mostly indoors don't really stop shedding. At least that's what I've heard. I'm that way a little bit, but I do still go through the big blow out at least once a year.

When I start loosing my coat my mum gets the dog wash lady to come out and give me a bath to loose all my coat. I generally get a couple of close baths to help loosen it all. If not it could take me a few months!

If your Mal is mostly an indoors kind of pup I suggest the Furminator! I bought mine on eBay for way less than it cost in my local pet store...and it really helps control Diablos shedding. REALLY helps. Dee only blows his coat twice a year...and that is also when he takes his trip to the groomer smile

I love the furminator! Koda just started blowing his coat and the furminator took care of it. ALL of it after only 2 brushings. Of course those brushings lasted an hour each but soooo worth it.

Sadie's blowing her coat!! Well, I'm told that she's actually losing all the bad hair from being malnurished and it is being replaced with healthy hair. So I'm told this is worse than blowing her coat!! We've been brushing her every day for a week and she has patches where she looks bald!! The hair under there is dark grey. It looked funny to me since she's red! Wow, talk about HAIR everywhere!!!!

Aww Sadie! That's so sad. My husband was going to take a picture of Koda sitting on the living room carpet and tell everyone "that's not carpet, we have wood floors, that's malamutebig grin"

I like to lay down and have my human run the vacuum hose over me! I especially like the little attachment that has plastic teeth on it. Sometimes in the spring she saves my hair and hair from the other dogs and puts it out on the patio for the birds to take for their nests. The birds like it! It is funny to see their beaks full of dog hair.
But the strangest thing:
My human knits. She told me that there are people who save their dog's hair and send it to a spinner to be made into yarn. Then they knit clothes from it! The first time she ever saw this was on ebay where a Malamute rescue group was selling hats and socks made from Malamute hair, they used the money to rescue more dogs. Yay! Then she saw ads in knitting magazines from people who will spin the hair for you. I don't know if I like this. It would be strange to smell a Mal but only find a human's feet!
