I have just finished reading this site.

Syringomyelia head x-rays

It is very long, but some of the latter post indicate that some scientists think there may be a link between combined vaccinations, and the Cavaliers that are developing the syrinxes in their spines that cause the painful symptoms of Syringomyelia.

"Is it more than a co-incidence that the combined Vaccine was introduced in 1983 and the first cases of Syringo were seen around that time? Also according to H H Merrit, Professor of Neurology at Columbia University, America, Encephalatis can affect the Spinal Cord ,that is where most Syrinxes are seen. "

I looked up encephalitis, cuz I didn't have a clue, and it is an inflammation of the brain caused by a virus. I think they are inferring that the combined vaccines cause a slight brain inflammation and therefore the syrinxes. This being because almost all Cavvies have a too small a skull that crowds the brain in the first place, and even a slight inflammation is going to cause trouble, in this case forcing cerebral spinal fluid into the spinal chord.

Does this sound the tiniest bit plausible? Am I understanding it correctly?

sounds plausable to me. Bullmastiffs have been known to have adverse effect with rabies vaccinations where there brain will swell in their skull causing all kinds of problems. My vet says its an allergic reaction and only effects a small number of dogs, none the less it can happen
