I have started to compose a list of High-Kill shelters in North America. There are only a couple so far so if you know of some, please post it here. I only started this a week ago and so far have helped a family adopt a big black mutt out of a high-kill shelter, cooperated with Postal's Mom to have a little red doxi pulled from a high-kill by a rescue agency, am trying to save a little Rat Terrier, and three Pitties. So far in one week I have helped to save two dogs, may be able to save 4 more and have only lost one that I was working on saving. I think that is pretty good stats for now.

Hey everyone ..Saved a husky yesterday,,The owner was going to KILL the dog because she no longer wanted it..I contacted Husky rescues who took in the dog..Like Venninnes mom said that is CANINE MURDER to put to sleep a dog just cuz you no longer want it..So add another save to our list....Also I have been searching CRAIGSLIST and trying to save dogs on there(that is where I found the Husky.Keep up the good work hug

Sadly, the reason they're overwhelmed with so many animals is because the college students.They go and get dogs, bring them to town during school and when it's time to leave to go home or move to get a job, they dump the animals at the shelter. Another problem however, is the local people aged 18-25 thinking it's so cool to breed pit bulls because their favorite rapper has one. At any time 3/4 the dogs in the SPCA in Cortland are pits and pit mixes.cry

The people at the shelter are great, but the number of animals is so overwhelming and their policy requires all dogs be adopted within the county, making it even harder to place them.
