We took Casey to PetSmart recently and discovered that he is afraid of other dogs.
No matter what size!
What I’m looking to do is get him out so he can see that other dogs are not a worry.

Anyone know how I can get him properly socialized?

yes. find a good dog park in your area. It worked wonders for Jake, who used to be scared of every dog!

Great suggestion Jake!

I also have a suggestion. When you go for walks and you see another dog, ask the owner if the dogs can play together for a few minutes or just sniff eachother. That will make Casey used to dogs.

Puppies are usually a bit afraid of bigger dogs even when the bigger dogs mean well. It is easier to socialize puppies with other puppies sincethey are teh same size and age or with older dogs since they are more relaxed then teenagers and puppies. We brought frosti to a dog park and that worked really well since he met lots of other friendly dogs there. you have to be careful though because not all the dogs at the dog parks are nice or friendly some are mean or snappy so just watch him......

I live in Windsor, there is a dog park off of Hward at Remington park - sometimes there are only a couple of dogs there and lots of little ones - my puppie would be to big to play - also I have seen community dog walks at the gnacho trail - ( I can't spell it but you no where I am talking about) Good luck -
