My sweet girl had hip surgery this week, and she was shaved completely bald on one side from about halfway back on her torso to her tail including her back leg. I'm just wondering if anyone in this group has had a similar experience and how long it took the coat to grow back in. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi there wave
I hope your Kessie is okay cry
I had a Keesie who had to be partly shaved on one side due to a tumour, from memory it took about six months to fully grow back. When Keesha got desexed the fur that they shaved for that took about six months as well smile
Hope this helps a bit.........

What a beautiful Keesie family! Thank you so much for your response -- it's good to know what to expect. Jazz and I will try to be patient. wink

She's already got a little razor stubble coming back in! big grin

She's starting to get around a bit better, but vet says that it will be a few weeks before she starts putting weight back on the 'new' hip... Thanks again for your help!

Hopefully things are ok with your girl. I once cut Nisse's backside short because of health issues and that took a couple of months to grow back too. When I first got Nisse they shaved his back legs on a certain side and that also took several months, but it came back very nicely.

Hey
My pup had most of his hair shaved off (there is a picture in his profile) due to a skin condition, and it was done in May...by the time the snow came around Oct/Nov., he was pretty much back to his old fluffy self! The fur was a little more coarse when it grew back in, though. I think he also felt pretty self conscious too!
p.s. it was really hard to shave off his beautiful fur, but the Vet said I had to!
