my GSD is a liver/tan color. the breeder we got him from said the color was extremely rare, and he wanted to keep him. he wound up selling him to us anyway but im just curious as to how rare the coloration is. i have never seen another with my own eyes but have heard of one or two. the impression im under is rarer than white or blue shepherds. please lemme know what you think. thanks

Liver colored sheperds are rarer than white ones only because there are more people breeding the white ones now. White sheperds are in "high demand" what once was a flaw and still is according to AKC standards is now is a highly desirable thing. I have known several liver colored sheperds being raised with many many shepards as a small child, my mom, and grand parents were foster families we seen several liver colored sheperds pass through rescues. hope this helps.
