My dogs names aren't unique at all but I decided to go with the name Sammie because my initials are SAM and it just sort of fit.

Just like all of the other dogs, he will answer to just about any name, all I have to do is say it in an upbeat sweet tone and he comes. When he doesn't respond to that, I either say, "bye-byes" or "mommy" and he comes running over.

I also have a Teddy, he is my moms dog, but she picked that name out for him because he is cuddly just like a teddy bear.

way to go

Our family had a large dispute over the name of our dog (which ended up being Nemo, as in Finding Nemo). My suggestions were Honey or Cuddly, but we agreed that we didn't want something to popular, too hard to say, or something that didn't have variations. We also tried for Dori, but Dori, sounded awkward. Finally, we decided to name our maltese Nemo, due to the fact that both are energetic. At home now, we rarely just call our dog "Nemo". We add lots of prefixes and suffixes to it. laugh out loud

wave Howdy Pups, Jewels here...I'm new to this group...red facered face

My angel furbrother Cisco Kid (R.I.P.) had a fursister named Jewels and my Mama named me after her to keep the name in the "family". The first Jewels went to Rainbow Bridge before my furbro Cisco Kid.

"Oliver"

I too had a big list of names. Trying out every name I heard. Looking at lists on the internet. Getting suggestions from others. I was getting a bit nervous because we had our little guy for a couple of days and still had not decided. I'm always ready with a name and I didn't want to pick something just to hurry up.

I was talking to my neighbor and describing what he looked like and how loveable and kissie he was. She said, I haven't even seen him but he sounds like and "Oliver" to me. I told my husband and we tried it on when he came home from work. It was perfect!!!cheer

I don't think I would have ever picked it myself. But hearing someone else say it...worked. It was so different because I had purposely named my other babies with and "e" sound. Maggie, Gigi, Chloe & Andy and they are all yorkies. Oliver was different so therefore he deserved a change.

Thanks for asking. Hope more reply. I really enjoyed reading all of everyone's stories.
