BAM-BAM

I haven't had a dog since I was a kid, but I've yearned for one my ENTIRE adult life...

So, while I waited for my dream to come true, I thought up pages & PAGES of names for my future dog (that's IF I ever GOT one...)

I had names picked out for males & females; little dogs & big dogs; cutesy names & tuff dog names...

September 2005: My dream finally came true in the form of an 8-week old, male Maltese puppy. So after narrowing down that long list of names, I finally decided on the name: BAM-BAM. (It's from "The Flintstones", a cartoon from my childhood). It's short & snappy, and not too common. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.

I LOVE his name, but my BAM-BAM could care less! Because when I call him, he only comes when & IF he feels like it (or, unless there's a treat in it for him!)

All that work picking out a dog name for nothing! Oh well...

SO TELL ME: HOW DID YOU SETTLE ON YOUR DOG's NAME?
Jin-Ju

You wanna- playyy? ^.~

I've always wanted a Maltese! They are my favorite! I, too, had a long list of names, but I only thought of girl names because I had my heart set on getting a little girl.

I finally narrowed down my list -- "Pearl". With the help of my family I chose the name Jin-Ju, which means pearl in Korean.

This name is unique and it describes my little bundle of joy perfectly. She's small, white, and precious...just like a pearl. smile
Rocco DeBone

Sleep like it is- your job

Well, here's the thing: I think Maltese only LISTEN when they want to. It has nothing to do with what their name is, but what you are saying..... Rocco will come if I say 'treat' but not so much if I call his name. So, that is that. Your name is still great, BAM BAM just doesn't want to listen maybe?!?!

Rocco is an remix of my sister-in-law's dog ROXY. And DeBone is from a um, well, from a porn star named Dale DeBone. I just thought it was funny. A little twisted, yes, but it fits him!

Jeter

Little by who's- standards???

After going through a bunch of "any ole dog" names with my husband, we couldn't agree... Until I said Jeter... I'm a Derek Jeter fan... and my hubby is a die hard Yankee's fan. Oh, and to top the cake, my hubby's name is Derek... So, naturally, the name Jeter would allow the new addition it fit right in!

My dad and step mom refuse to call him by his name! They call him Tejada--Yuck!

Oh, and Jeter comes to the name "treat" as well... actually, you don't even have to say the word... he knows the "clicking" noise of the treat jar, so when he hears it, he come flying around the corner... I must say, though, that Jeter is very good about coming when I call him... but I usually don't have to call him because he's usually up my butt, anyway! Haha! I love my little guy!

DiMaggio

Please sir, can- I chew on your- shoes?

We are huge Yankee fans and already had one dog at home named Jeter( a brown and white Bearded Collie) after Derek Jeter (who by the way is also brown and whitelaugh out loud

When we decided to add another puppy to our home, I knew it had to have another baseball name. I had several options to honor some the Yankee greats (Gerigh, Munson, Thurman) but decided on DiMaggio, after famous centerfielder Joe DiMaggio because the puppy was part Maltese and DiMaggio was an Italian name.

The name fits him to a tee- a fiesty little dog with a big Italian name! He has several nick names - D, D-man, Maggi, Maggio, Little D and will come to them all. I love his name and couldn't imagine calling him anything else! puppy

When I first went to see Ruby she was 1 weeks old and a little fluffless pink ball. I looked at her and said to my hubby that "she looks like a little 'Ruby', all pink and tiny' so thats where it came from.

When I started browsing through breeds and breeders I knew I wanted a little ball of fluff.
My fiance and I went with his parents and while they were picking out a puppy of their own a tiny runt made it's way to my partner and never left. That's how we knew she was the one! I'd thought about the name Billie (after Billie Holliday) since I am a big Jazz fan but after seeing how girlie and prissy the tiny 8 week old puppy looked I thought she needed something more fitting, so we decided on Ella (after Ella Fitzgerald) and she responded straight away!

Marley

The Gentle- Maltese

This is Katie, I am owned by Marley the Maltese and Disco the Maltipoo.

Marley - My husband Drew loves music, especially 70's hippie stuff. I wanted to name her Muffin, but Drew was not willing to call her that because it might compromise his manhood ; ) It's bad enough that he has to walk her around dressed in pink. So Drew started looking though his albums and found Bob Marley. Since she was mellow like Bob Marley's music we decided to name her after him.

Disco - We weren't really looking for another dog, but a neighbor had found a Maltese and once we saw him, we were in love. Marley initially wasn't, but now she likes the idea of bossing him around. We were going to name him Bosley, but Drew didn't want another "ley" name. We decided on Disco once a neighbor suggested it because he loves to jump up and dance around.
