Hi morkie lovers, I just turned 8 months old and I weigh less than 5 lbs. My mommy is wondering if this is normal or am i underweight? I eat Innova and Wellness. I heard puppies reach their full growth at about 1 year old. So I just want to see the average weight of all my older morkie pals. Thank you!

Baylee will be 1 on January 4 and he weighs almost 10 pounds. When he is wet he is all skin and bones, so he is not overweight. He is much more the size of his mom ( maltese) than his dad ( yorkie ) who was much smaller.

Coco is only 3 months old but she looks like a rat when she's wet too!! Omigoodness.............I cant believe the tiny body that's under all that fluff!!!!

Anyways...........I think I read somewhere that they should be full grown by 9 months. But I dont know if that's true or not.

Maggie will be 2 next month and she also weighs 10 lbs. She is also very trim and muscular actually...she's very active. Both Maltese and Yorkies generally should not be more than 7 lbs so it's quite likely yours will be on the smaller size. I have on a couple of occasions seen adult Morkies that weigh less than 4 lbs...it just depends on genetics. If they come from parents that are 4 lbs or less they probably will be around 4 lbs. Although that's not always the case...sometimes there is a throwback and you can get a 10 lb dog that came from a pair of 4 pound parents. Maggie did not stop growing until she was about 14 months. Although it slowed down drastically after about 8 months.

Teddy will be 2 in April and he was the runt of the litter - only 2 pounds 7 ounces when I got him at 12 weeks old. No one, the breeder and vet included, thought he would be more than 6 pounds fully grown. At his one year vet visit he was a little over 10 pounds. Teddy favors his maltese mom too - he has a maltese face, build, and coat, but with yorkie coloring

Addley was only 1.5 lbs (that was at 11 weeks) when we got her from the breeder...she is now 3 lbs and 4 months old. I think they guesstamated that she is going to be around 5-6 lbs...I don't think that your baby is underweight...just a small pup!

I'm a little bigger than the average Yorkie or Maltese. My birth mom was 1/2 Yorkie and 1/2 Maltese but my birth dad was a full Yorkie. They were both a little bigger than their normal breed. When I adopted my current parents, I was 8 weeks old and fit in the palm of my mom's hand, but now at 15 months, I tip the scales at 17 lbs. I am not fat, I move around too much for that, but I am just a big guy!

My next door neighbor is a full Maltese and she is cute! I am just about the same size as her, so I think I get most of my larger size from my mom.

I still love to play with other, whether big or small. In fact, when we take the motor home (a Bounder Diesel ... named after me), I have two Border Collies and a Golden Retrevier to play with. I let them all know that I can play just as hard as them, so I don't let my size bother me.

I think Mom and Dad are lucky that I am not the average Morkie size, because they might have to pick me up to get into the motor home. At my size, I can jump right up those steps.
