I've requested stories about former racing greyhounds in another venue. I'd be happy to pass them onto you.

Well my mom got me as a part of therapy for her in a really down time. I guess that's a bit of a story BOL. Actually she said I worked wonders and she feels so much better now and she wants to share that with the world. That's why I am going to trian to be a therapy dog!

Mommy's godson is in the hospital right now, and a therapy team from Dove Lewis came today to see him! It was perfect timing, because he was getting bored in the middle of the day, and it cheered him right up. smile

Not exactly a story, but a funny observation...

I started AAT at a new hospital recently. The program there is very new, so there are only about 5-6 dogs. I was volunteering there one week when I looked around at all the other dogs and realized something-- Ginger was the only dog in the room with a tail! She is actually now the only dog registered for the program at this hospital with a tail too (there was one other dog who was a 14 year old mix but sadly she passed away frown )
The other dogs who volunteer are a Pembroke Corgi, a Springer Spaniel, and two Dobermans-- none have a full tail. I thought this was really funny! I mentioned it to our group leader and she is going to take photos of all the dogs/volunteers (from behind hehe) and send it to the animal-assisted therapy organization for their newsletter... We're calling it "Tails/Tales of __name)__ Hospital" although I think a better title would be "Tails (or not!) of ______ Hospital" BOL..
I'm gonna suggest we line all the dogs up in down/stays and take a photo from above, that way you will really be able to see their tails (or lack thereof...)

Most of my stories are short - such as this past weekend when I was put on a bed, on a blanket, in the crook of this woman's arm. She'd been more responsive in the past, but was mostly just lying there with her eyes open. Her hospice person was there too, holding her hand and talking to her. Her hospice person moved the woman's arm so she was petting me... so I reached up, ever so gently, and patted her on the face.

Don't know if she really knew what was going on, though.

At a fundraising event at Barnes and Noble (we'll wrap your gifts, you donate money), I was being carried around, and some children came over and just adored me. They were holding my head and kissing my head (my human kept a hold of me), and squeezing my paws to see if I have claws. They were patting me and feeling me all over the place! I wasn't completely comfortable and eventually squirmed a bit, but I put up with it, since that's my job. Usually I work with the elderly, but I'm fine with children too!
