Let's face it, we have to be creative with our fund-raising to stay afloat, here we can share ideas about particularly successful methods.

We sold pet treats as a fundraiser, through a company called Best in Show Pet Treats. We got 50% of all the sales, and made over $300 in 2 weeks, just by asking co-workers, friends, and family. The shelter is continuing to sell the treats to the general public, but I don't know how much more they've raised. The people at BIS are very helpful & nice and they really are quality pet treats. Not only are you making some money, you're spreading the word about your rescue group or shelter! This is a great fundraiser for any organization to try!!

Also, I have a list of many fundraising ideas in my diary -- 109 Fundraising Ideas.

Well, I haven't actually organized a fundraising event myself... yet... but my mom attended one last week in a very chic hotel. It was a dog fashion show. As I understand, everything was donated and tickets were $50 per person and included 2 drinks (champagne and a Cosmopolitan) and some snacks. The event had over 100 in attendance and as I understand was a big success since there were minimal costs. I think something like this can be done on a much simpler level though. In a local dog park you can organize a fashion show and charge the entrants to participate. If you can get a local restaurant to donate a gift certificate, that can be the prize for the winner.
