 | | | | Hannah's mom here, speaking for the "uncroppers" here....
I personally like the look of uncropped, though don't get me wrong, a nicely done crop job is amazing.
I guess I just feel like if it isn't necessary, I dont do it. Cropping isn't necessary for my baby and her health, so therefore, I didn't do it.
Again, I won't deny a nicely cropped dane isn't stunning, I just choose not to do it.
A lot of it has to do with tradition. Many dane folks who buy a dane, want the dane to resemble what history has presented as the standard. Danes were originally cropped for a reason, although now it as asthetics moreso than function, but the desire to see a little of the "historical" dane is sure to be in many folks wishes.
I don't necessarily feel that it's cruel, but I do feel like it is unneccesary, however, I don't condemn anyone who does crop.
But I think as long as us naturals keep making ourselves known, as pets as well as show dogs, standards will eventually change.
Alot of show breeders still crop because of the opinion that danes in the ring do better if cropped. However, uncropped danes are winning more and more now, and earning championships easily.
Hope from an American's view, this helps you a wee bit. | | | | |
