Hiya fellow hounders! Man, I looked all over the internet trying to find some folks who share my love for the hunting dogs, easier said than done. There are a bunch of groups around for all the other breeds, but not so much for the hounds.
I'm a little reluctant to use these forums, as I can see they're not very active... but hopefully we can change that.
I just brought Red home from the shelter last week, and not a moment too soon. He was a very sick pup, and by the time I got him to the vet, they were concerned as to whether or not he'd be able to pull through. He had an extremely severe case of kennel cough, on top of the fact that he was severely malnourished and had no muscle. I guess spending your entire life in a cage will do that.
Things seem to be looking up though. He's getting stronger, and walking a little further everyday. Well, right up untill the point where he sits down and gives me that look, you know the one... "c'mon now dad, you know you're gonna carry me the rest of the way home".

I hope these forums get a little more active myself, I've sent out several emails to other pups but to no avail. This could become something special for some of us If we could only get it up and running alittle better.

Red is absolutley gorgeous, I couldn't imagine someone treating an animal like that, epspecially with a face like that. When my girlfriend first told me about Roxy I said "I don't even want to see her because I know I'll fall in love." Sure enough I did, and now she's like our child. I hope Red gets better, even if the forums don't pick up some let me know how she/he progresses.

I love coonhounds too! I got a Walker as a puppy at a shelter and just fell in love with their personality! I then started fostering coonhounds to give my dog experience with other dogs, and when Barron came in it was certain I would have a permanent two dog household! It is amazing what great dogs they can be even after living difficult lives for so long! Roxy, I think Baron could be your long lost brother- you guys look so much alike! :0)

I agree, they look so alike in many way. We got Ms. Roxy as a puppy and she's got such a great personallity, I bet barron does too.

Our home was resently broken into and poor Roxy didn't know what to do. She must of hidden in our bedroom becuase when we returned home she was in the back and a couch was moved by the intruders to block Roxy in. I think she started barking because se found random DVDs on the floor, where it looked like they were throwing things at her. She's ok, I like to think were safe now.

Thanks for replying, its quite lonely here.
