I received the following in an e-mail from my good friend who is a vet student at UW Madison. A researcher at the Wisconsin Vet School is looking for dogs to participate in a clinical trial for a new supplement. I was not able to post the attached document, but if you are interested please paw mail me with your e-mail address and I can send it to you. Or you can contact the woman who is running the study as listed below. I do not think you have to be in WI to participate.

We are beginning a clinical trial to test the efficacy of a new nutritional supplement in managing the pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. The
supplement contains all natural ingredients including glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, tuna oil powder, ginger, turmeric, wheat germ oil, honey powder and liver powder
that are included with the purpose of decreasing
inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. This product will be targeted as a first line therapy for dogs with arthritis, for dogs who can not tolerate NSAIDS, for dogs where NSAIDS are not enough to manage the pain, and for
dogs whose owners may be resistant to use NSAIDS. The product has been developed by a company called Standard Process. Standard Process is one of the largest producers of natural supplements for people. They have asked for our help in proving the efficacy of their veterinary product.

If you are interested in enrolling your dog in the study, please respond to this email. It will be a 10 week period of observation in which we will perform radiographs at the start, periodic bloodwork and orthopedic exams and force plate analysis. All costs will be covered by the study.

In order to be a part of the study, your dog can not be on any other treatment for osteoarthritis (non-steroidals, steroids, glucosamine or any diet containing glucosamine). If your dog is already on one of these, we will do a 2
week washout period at the start of the study.

Please see the attached document for further information. Please let me know if you are interested or have any questions pertaining to the study. Thank you for your help,
Sara
