Just got a baby Scottish Deerhound/Greyhound pup. Can anyone give some advise on training him not to chase our cats? We stop him immediately and firmly say "No" but it's as if he's in a trance and can't even hear our reprimand when he's doing it. He doesn't chase often- it could be worse! I'm afraid of his chase instinct really kicking in when he gets older and having him injure one of our cats. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If leaft up to me, I would simply eat the cat. However, it might make a mess. Here's what Mom said to try........

Introduce them slowly in a controlled environment. I would put a leash on the pup and bring the cat in the room. If the pup goes after the cat gently tug the leash and firmly tell him no! It might take some time but eventually he should get the message. This might sound mean, but if the cat gives him a good whack it might also teach him that claws=pain and not to do it again.

.......I've also heard spray bottles filled with water work......sounds too messy to me.

......I'm Seva is just loving this......LOL!
