I'm sure this topic have previously been discussed. I've read threads on Dogster about Food and Nutrition - but I'd like to hear what fellow Westies (and other Terriers) like and do well on!

We're in the process now of switching from Royal Canin to Wellness. It seems they both lost interest in the Royal Canin and they passed up their breakfast serving for the past few days. So, I'm resorting back to Wellness (Wex was on it for a short time when he was a puppy but then got sick once they changed formulas).

So far they seem to be eating to eat, a little hesitant, but eat it or on many occassions leave 10-25% behind!

I add a spoonful of canned to their kibble. This really encourages their eating. They have no problem eating the canned - it's the dry I'm having a difficult time with. Wex tends to also have a sensitive tummy and Sofia on the other hand has one made of steel!

Is there a flavor or brand that you find is very palatable? What have you had good results with? Thanks for the advice!

Blanket was a very, very picky eater and he has sensitive skin and a sensitive tummy, so there were ingredients we wanted to avoid. We went through a half-dozen brands (and different varieties within brands) before trying Nutro Ultra about a year ago. This one seems to work for both him and Trotskii. They're healthy as can be, and no more skin problems or bad poops. Here's a link with info & pictures:

Sometimes they won't eat (such as in a strange/new place), but a teaspoon of plain yogurt or cottage cheese mixed with the kibble solves that.

Actually they were on Nutro Ultra before the switch. I noticed excessive licking. However, for Wexford the piece sin the Ultra were too big and he always vomit his food right after eating. Sofia ate the puppy food, no problem. So we switched to "small bites" for Wexford. Like I said I noticed a lot of licking. After I switched that also went away. It jsut seems so hard to find a palatable food! They like it the firs titme I put it in their bowl cause its a novelty and I think "great! they love it" They'll continue eating it for aobut 2 weeks tops and then refuse to eat and start skipping meals!! They are insane! LOL

We're at the 2 weke mark with Wellness...Wex licks out all the canned and leaves the kibble. Sofia wont finish it. We had leftover Solid Gold and Sofia gobbles it right up, but Wex wont touch it!!
