i have never had a pyr before. my last 3 dogs have been labs. angus seems to find almost everything scary. some times he gets over it sometimes not. when my son comes for a visit and leaves the toilet seat up angus will bark at it until someone puts it down. is this normal or is he really neurotic

They are so alert to their surroundings that they notice anything different and the barking is telling you to get over here and check it outwave

Take him everywhere so he can experience lots of different things/nosies/people. He will still bark at anything new in his territory but not be so fearful of it.snoopy

I think Pyrs are very observant.
Kody barks at our toaster when he sees it. He has a grudge against our toaster. I think he saw a very mean looking dog in it once, (it is a metal toaster). laugh out loud

Pyrs are sensitive, so maybe he is just cautious right now. Kody was a lot quieter and more shy when he first came home. He was also very scared when he saw my husband's hunting rifle. He doesn't like guns, just like me!
Hera

I love to- sleep... the- Pooh Bear.

Abigail is very correct. Our Hera is always very brave. Odin on the other hand is afraid of lots of things. He is getting better every day. He really doesn't like loud noises. Like the air compressor in the shed or hearing the trash truck go by the fence. They get better you just have to keep them exposed to lots of stuff.
Dante' the- BooBoo Bear

Micajeh is quite alert, but is the quiet and calm one of our two. He'll only jump, if something really is there. Dante on the other hand, has such acute and sensative hearing, he hears things from afar; he is our true Pry. He is more of our guard. How he interfaces with us with his atypical Pry bark, is simply to 'get us to go look' ... which is his job of Barking. -- It is really odd sometimes to see him dart, run and hide with certain things. He has his favorite safe spots, it's darling ... but during these times, which is not common, we reassure him, show him, love him up ... as to not cause any further scared issues. We realize his hearing is really special, so we pay attention to things more with him.
