dont you really hate it when someone calls your dog a mutt......it sounds like an insult.....like they are putting them down for not being 100% pure.....kinda like Hitler did with the jews

i agree 100%. i would rather refer to my animals as mixed breeds. even when you go to your profile this site does not allow you to pick that for breed. i was going to email dogster about that. i believe "mutt" is a negative word that de"dogifies" our animals.

"Hybrid vigor" is a good term. Dogs that are not "pure bred" have fewer health problems and tend to live longer.

If we are encouraged not to look down on humans that aren't "pure bred" why dogs? Just like mixed humans, mixed animals can be just as beautiful (sometimes even more so than the purebred ones!).

I am an Italian Greyhound/Blue Heeler mix. Mom calls me an Italian Heller or an Italian Bluehound. What do you think? thinking

My sister Meeka is a Schnauzer/Australian Shep mix. We like to call her a Schnausie big grin
