My name is Sadie Kate and I yam the newest member of my family! My mommy found out dat I was going to be euthanized (not sure what that is but doesn't sound good!!) and couldn't stand the thought that a good dane be put to sleep (isn't sleep good?!?!!?) so she came to get me. It was only supposed to be for a short time but here I am and it sounds like forever! Which is a good thing! I am quite happy in my new home. I gets to sleep on furniture!! Can you believe that!?!? And I am now an inside dawg! I LOVE IT! I hope dat you all enjoy your time here in da group and hope to see you frequently!

Hello my big buddies!

My name is Taylor. I am a (mostly) black female Dane. I was the first dog my parents adopted. They tell me (and everyone else who will listen) that I am the smartest dog they have ever seen. I don't know about that; I just understand more "people talk" than some pups. I wish Mom and Dad understood more of my attempts to speak their language!

I house trained in two days, and learned to ring a bell Dad hung on the back door to tell Mom and Dad I needed to "do my business." Of course, being a fairly smart girl, I started ringing the bell anytime I wanted someone to go out and play with me (it wasn't the THAT often--only when I was awake). Mom and Dad soon got me a doggie door so I could go out to our fenced in back yard whenever I needed or wanted to. I learned how to use it the first night it was installed. I like sitting in the big wing back chair in the living room (my "throne"), and of course, I love sleeping with Mom and Dad.

I now have my sister, Harley, and our half brother, Moses, to play with (see their posts and pages for their stories)! Mom says everyone (humans) think she and Dad are crazy to have three Great Danes living in the house. We are so happy to find out we are not the only family to be so "blessed."

Thank you for letting us join your group, and most of all for being our friends!

Licks and Love,

Tails

Hello my new cuddly friends!

I am Harley-paws, a female Harlequin Great Dane. I had a "ruff" time until Mom and Dad saved me. Mom and Dad say I am the most expensive "free" dog in the world. They spent several thousands of dollars to ensure I would not be put down, even though I wasn't even their dog--just the sister of Taylor, the girl they had adopted. I don't understand any of the details.

I was a very shy puppy girl, living with several other Danes. One day people came and took several of us away and put us in separate cages far away from our home. There was little food, no puppy play time, and hardly any human contact. We could hear each other, but I couldn't see or play with the other dogs. Then one day I was returned to my first home. A couple of days later, my first caretaker took me to work with her and gave me a bath (yucky!). These two nice people, who I now know and LOVE as Mom and Dad, came to take me on a play date with my sister, Taylor. I got to spend the night and learned lots of stuff from Tails. The next day they took me back to what was my yard. The following day, they came and took me back to my forever home! Taylor is a great teacher, she showed me how to use the puppy door, only to play with toys Mom and Dad give me, and generally how to be a good indoor Dane--I figured out sleeping in bed with Mom and Dad on my own! It took a while to understand that this was my forever home, that there would always be enough food, and that Mom and Dad would always come home to me. I also had a lot of learning to do about how to play and just be a puppy, but Taylor is a great teacher, and Mom and Dad are always supportive and loving. This must be what heaven is like!

Your new friend,

'Harles'

Hello new friends!

I am a big gray dog (Dad says I am a Merle Great Dane). When I was born in my Vet, Dr. Tracy's, hospital. I don't remember, but Taylor tells me that she and Mom and Dad came and visited me right after I was born. Taylor, Harley, and I share the same fur mom.

A few weeks later I was adopted by a loving retired couple. They loved me and tried to do the best for me they could. They installed an invisible fence (which I never understood--other than I should always stay close to the back door). It was well intentioned, but it just scared me. After a couple of months, their human child moved out of state, taking their only grandchild. Being good grandparents, they began spending a lot of time visiting their grandchild. They realized that it was not fair to me to be left alone, so they started trying to find a new family that could give me the attention a good puppy deserves (they are good people, and loved me). The first attempt to find me a new home, didn't go well. The other dog didn't like the idea of sharing his home.

The people who are now my Mom and Dad agreed to foster me until a forever home could be found. If you have read my sister, Harley's post, you can imagine would happened. She came for a play date and soon was their second Dane. I came as a foster, and within days (probably more like a couple of hours!) became a permanent part of the family. This IS my forever home! Having a third Dane meant some changes were required. The most notable was the queen-sized addition to our king-sized bed that Dad built. He told Mom that surely at least two Danes would happily sleep on the extension. Usually Dad and I end up sleeping on the extension and the girls and Mom take their places on the old bed. Life is good in Der Dane Haus!

I tend to find trouble more often than most dogs (or as I would say, it seems to find me!).

Thank you for letting me join your group and your lives!

Oops. . . Sorry for the double post.

Dang, big paws and small keys don't mix!

We have some news. Harley is much more excited than Taylor and I am, but Dad got a real digital camera. Up till now our photos were off a little cell camera phone. Hopefully our web pages will look a little better now.

Oh well, it's nearly nap time, so I'll sign off.

Licks,

Moses (the big gray dog)

Wahoo!! Glad to see another CRAZY family!! Don't you just love it though!?? My mommy says she wouldn't trade it for nothing!

Hey! Didn't youse knows dat all free dogs are the most expensive ones!?!? My mommy works in a vet office and quite often see those free dogs come in!! BOL But of course, on the other end of the spectrum, she sees alot more of da dogs dat people spend wots of money for from 'pet stores' (she hates Hunte Corporation!!) doggies.

Wow! She didn't realize dat anyone had found her group! She has been involved so much in another group and some of da forums dat she really didn't take the time to advertise her group. She is glad dat youse found your way here!

Woofers!
