Summer plans anyone? Looks like our life has changed completely ever since we got the puppy. Traveling is such a feat in itself, then one remembers the new addition to the fam. Plans get changed and things are a lot harder. Why is traveling with a pet so much more difficult than it should be? People treat their pets like children and desire to bring them along, so why are we limited to so few activities? What does everyone else do for a vacation? What happens when you need to fly somewhere for an extended time?

I just joined the group, so my response is a 1.5 years late! hahaha
My DH and I rarely go on vacations. I have my own dog bakery business and it's difficult to get away and he's self-employed, so for both of us vacations = no income!

But when we USED to travel, we kenneled our dogs. The results were less than wonderful, no matter how good I thought the kennel was. Now that they are older and I've learned so much about the horrors of some of the vaccinations required by kennels, I have found a wonderful PET SITTER who also offers a home environment for boarding. Our dogs can be in a great private room with a safely fenced outdoor play area, and it doesn't cost extra! So when we're ready for an extended vacation, I know exactly where my dogs will be staying.
