Do any of you shave your BC in the summer? We live in texas and it has already started hitting the 100's. It's so hot! I thought about shaving, but I dont want to mess up her pretty coat. Will a BC coat grow back normally? (I know some breeds wont).

not exactly the same thing, but close enough.. Brie used to chew the fur off her tail.. now that its grown in again its never felt as nice as the rest of her coat. even with conditioner.

Our previous BC used to get shaved in the summer, her coat grew back fine.
The only thing is, I'd advise you not to laugh afterwards, we laughed at AJ the first time we got her shved and she went and hid under the deck for a few days.

My former border collie got one heck of a winter coat one year, it wasn't shedding out properly, ad the summer was extra hot, so I shaved her down that summer(she was 7 years old). She did hide at first and did not want to be seen. took a year for her coat to grow back to her normal coat but it grew back nice and we never shaved her again, only clipped her back end a bit short to keep it clean when sh got older, she was ok with that;-)

Hi, Now my human sister and mommy are Dog Groomers, and my mommy does not want me to be shaved, Because sometimes the hair does not grow back good, So my mommy and sister keeps me good and when it get hot they comb me out, and i know i am part Astrilan Shpeherd mix but the hair is still the same, snoopywavesnoopysnoopy

waveMy mom shaves me every year for the summer and my coat is thick and soft, and it does get pretty long.
Mom wonders if she never would of cut it would it have come back so long????shrug
